DAFNE is the Department of the University of Tuscia originating from the former Faculty of Agriculture. It offers BSc and MSc courses in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and in Nature and Forest Restoration and Conservation. PhD programmes in "Sciences of Plant and Animal Production" and "Ecosystem and Productive Systems" are also active in the Department. Research of the 65 faculty members, focuses on the development of techniques allowing to monitor the physical, biochemical and biological processes, in order to improve the productivity and sustainability of the agricultural and forest ecosystems and forest at various levels scales ranging from molecular level to field and landscape level, . The methodological approaches employed include by using microscopic and physicalo-mechanical techniques, sensors and biosensors, dendroclimatology, xylogenesis, remote sensing, geomatics, the modelling of environmental processes and the use of sustainability indicators.
