ABACO is a leading GIS software company that provides IT software solutions with GIS functionalities, as well as "pure" Geographical Information Systems technologies. ABACO was founded in 1990 and has workforce of around 60 persons; its mission is inspired by values of specialization, professionalism and innovation.

The main success of Abaco is SITI, a platform that incorporates over 20 years of deep experience in managing GIS databases, configurable by sector, process, and goals.
SITI is a preconfigured solution with different specializations that already contains the rules for the specific activities, and that can be quickly and easily adopted.

Today SITI is used at international level:

in the Integrated Administration and Control Systems (IACS) of the subsidies paid to European farmers in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), using the solution called SITI Agri;
in Information Systems for Land Management, dedicated to public and local governments, which integrate cadastral data through the solution called SITI Catasto & SITI DataHub;
in information systems dedicated to technical and administrative management of real estate assets for public and private companies using the solution called SITI Patri.
Abaco's achievements are the result of the great experiences both nationally and internationally. Specialized know-how supported by major research and professional development of technologies for the design, implementation and publication of Geographic Information Systems-rich 2D and 3D content integrated with the most advanced SDI - Spatial Data Infrastructure.
To Abaco, investments in research and development of new technologies are business critical. This choice was a key for success, and in recent years has seen GeoMind company's entry into the group. GeoMind covers a strategic role in the group and is in charge of research, development and engineering of information technology products. These technologies are available in the suite of products called DbMAP including products like DbCAD, DbGIS, DbMAP ASJ, and DbMAP 3D.

Abaco was awarded the "Oracle Spatial Excellence Partnership Award 2010". This is an important award that Oracle assignes to a single company, selected from a group of extremely competitive partners around the world.
Abaco was awarded for the innovative use of Oracle technologies, for the ability to integrate and manage 3D data and for the long and fruitful collaboration with Oracle technical teams involved in development and promotion of Spatial technologies.

ABACO is an ICT company specialising in Integrated Administration and Control Systems for Public institutions, including Land Management Information Systems. It was founded in Mantua, Italy in 1990 by a group of experts in relational databases, computer aided design, topography, cadastre and image processing. ABACO is still today internationally recognised a sector leader in innovative tools, methodologies and know-how aimed at the development of Land Management Information Systems. Our main European operations headquarters is in Reading, UK’s technology hub. Though the UK market is a relatively recent addition, central and local Governments in England, Scotland and Wales have shown great appreciation by entrusting crucial country-wide projects to our team. We still operate from Italy from a range of sites comprising factory and R&D facilities as well as representative offices. ABACO is also operational from Malta and Macedonia, and our current product and client footprint extends to Turkey, Lithuania, Romania, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Argentina among others. ABACO has also worked with the European Commission on GIS-related services in the INSPIRE context.

Among the more traditional players in ABACO’s portfolio are Paying Agencies, for whom we curate Integrated Administration and Control Systems (IACS) for the Common Agricultural Policy, Land Parcel Identification Systems (LPIS), the Integrated Control System and Entitlements Registers (for the BPS). Other arenas see us active in agriculture, land and water management, land register and real estate management, where our systems are leading lead the way thanks to the technology and knowledge assets of the company.

Our people’s skills set besides core development ranges from legislative to geo-databases and from geomatics standards to protocols for spatial data infrastructures. This award-winning mix has more than once become the focus of attention in the industry, and has seen a growing number of accolades. Re-investment in R&D is strong, and this is shared at a range of regular events. Our partners are also growing in number and among them we recognise Oracle and Ordnance Survey.

Our vision for the future is shaped by our Italian Renaissance heritage: a taste for what has survived the test of time yet in sometimes surprising combinations – informed in turn by the lessons learnt on our journeys abroad. Local fruition by a market made of private entities and even individuals though an equally individual and flexible offering. Pilot studies in cloud-based and augmented reality technology have supported the view that a more capillary penetration into the realms of daily application is a sign of things to come. This will translate into savings, efficiency and usability by lay end-clients. These may originate from the context of farming and real-estate, to mention but a few. Thus passion, talent, experience and organisation become concrete assets.

As well as software solutions, our experience has allowed us to develop organisational and database models and a work process aimed at acquiring and updating land information as well as maintaining historical data, never losing sight of developments in legislation and standards.

We feel this synergy between being able to harness data in a meaningful manner coupled with the generative intuition of methodology is the very basis of the ABACO knowledge system –- the foundation on which our products can be solidly built.
