The Hellenic Association of Mobile Applications Companies (HAMAC) www.hamac.gr, is an industry association representing a high-growth sector of more than 80 high-tech Greek-born companies whose activities focus on the development of mobile applications, and platforms as well as the provision of innovative communication, content and application services.

The area of applications and services on new wireless and mobile devices or, widely known, as the mobile internet, is characterized as one of the most rapidly growing sectors internationally and in Greece, with an increasing contribution to national GDP. An new ecosystem of start-ups is emerging around them.

As of today, the number of mobile devices in our planet is bigger than the world population, creating a huge global market. Also a new reality emerges through the Nexus of Mobile Technologies, Internet of Things, Cloud based services and Social Networks, that offers us a great challenge: To bring up new services and applications that will add value to everyday life and enrich the experience of communication between the people in this planet.

Together with other five industry associations (mobile applications, microelectronics, biomedical technologies, aero-space, open technologies and start-ups) we have formed the Σynergies network that represents a vibrant aggregation of Greek-born companies with an international presence.

Our main objectives are:

• Catalysing synergistic activities between our members and also with strategic partners.

• Expanding the reach of our members to the international markets

• Induce networking between corporate and academic R&D activities

• Lobbying on industry and innovation related issues.

Key role to achieving those objectives is the establishment of Innovation Hubs in selected cities with a critical mass of Academic Institutions, Innovative corporations and proactive local institutions. (first priority Athens, then Thessaloniki, Patras, Crete, Ioannina)

The Athens Innovation Hub, project named "InnovAthens" is based in the Athens Technopolis, a cultural and entertainment center, in a highly symbolic point, besides the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora. It is a joint project between Σynergies, the City of Athens and major Academic Institutions and supported by Samsung as a strategic partner.

Also, since 2013 HAMAC is representing Greece with a National Pavilion, at GSMA Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, and we have supported the presence of Greek innovators in various international events in the US, China, Russia, UAE, giving the opportunity to many small and medium-sized companies to exhibit their products and services at the most important global events not only in mobile but in the broader field of digital communications and related technologies as well.
