Research Station for Fruit Growing (RSFG) Constanta was established in 1977 following the separation of the Fruit Growing Laboratory from the Research and Development Station for Vineyard and Wine, Murfatlar, which operated during 1962 – 1977 period.
Since 2003, after a reorganizing process, the Station`s name was changed into the present name.
The administrative main building of the Station is located in Valu lui Traian village, 12 km from Constanta on the highway Constanta-Bucharest: at 44°10’ North latitude, and 28°40’ East longitude, and the altitude ranges between 40 and 80 m.
The Research Sector of RSFG Constanta is organized in two laboratories:
1) Genetics and Plant Breeding;
2) Orchard Technologies and Plant Protection.
The development activity has been organized in three pilot bases (farms): two as fruit growing farms and one fruit tree nursery, and has the role to implement the results obtained from the research activities.
