The Møreforsking group is the largest private, non-profit regional institute in Norway. The main objectives are to pursue research- and development activities and provide counselling for the benefit of industry, public administrations and other partners. We work in direct collaboration with numerous local, national and international SMEs. The Institute’s focus is interdisciplinary research on marine resources covering the full value chain from ocean to consumer. Important research areas include sustainable management of coastal eco systems, bioeconomy and harvesting of marine resources, impact on the climate, seafood processing and quality, aquatic animal welfare, integrated multitrophic aquaculture, exploitation of new marine resources, 100% exploitation of raw materials, chemical and biochemical analysis, health benefits of marine oils and proteins, and consumer behaviour and markets. The institution has various laboratory infrastructures, including a laboratory for analytical biochemistry and a facility for live marine organisms,and counts with optimized laboratory protocols for simulated human in vitro digestion, bioavailability in vitro and ex vivo, toxicological estimations and biomedical research, in collaboration with local hospitals.
