The EAH Jena was founded in 1991 as one of the first educational institutions of this kind (University of Applied Sciences) in the new federal states of Germany. The University has actual 4500 students with a very good teacher/student relation. The University has a modern University Campus, which provides with a lot of high specialized labs very good educational, teaching and research conditions for students, academic teachers and researchers. Applied research and development are core tasks of the EAH Jena and proceed under the inclusion of bachelor and master and PhD students. More than 200 research projects mainly in the field of applied research and market-oriented development are conducted every year with a budget volume of more than 7 mill. €. The IMPT belongs to the research strongest institutions of the EAH and within the institute the research group “Instrumental Analysis” plays an extraordinary role in acquiring projects with worldwide partners.
The IMPT coordinates and promotes the research collaboration in the fields of micro-optics, microsystem engineering, microfluidics, precision manufacturing engineering and rapid prototyping. The institute is main partner of the Thuringian Center for Additive Technologies (ThAT) and is responsible for the field of bioprinting.
