Dr. Eetu Puttonen works as a research manager at the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI) in the National Land Survey of Finland. He received his MSc and PhD degrees in physics from the University of Helsinki in 2007 and 2012, respectively. In 2013 – 2016 he completed a three-year Academy of Finland postdoctoral grant project about hyperspectral LiDAR research. During the post-doctoral project, he had a half-year long mobility period in Technical University of Vienna, where he worked in the Photogrammetry Research Group. Currently, he leads an NLS research group “Mapping and Change Analysis Applications with Multiple Scale Remote Sensing”, which focuses on remote sensing change detection, map updating and multispectral and hyperspectral laser scanning. He also coordinates an Academy of Finland research project "Integration of large multisource point cloud and image datasets for adaptive map updating". Dr. Puttonen has authored and co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed journal and conference articles. His scientific expertise areas are in hyperspectral laser scanning and intelligent fusion of terrestrial data, aerial imaging, and geospatial database. He is a member of the Centre of Excellence in Laser Scanning Research of the Academy of Finland.
